Sunday we returned from our “Reflect in Sedona” retreat. So, Monday I spent reviewing in my mind and on paper the weekend, journaling about the events, sending silent messages and prayers to each one of the women that shared this time with us, and just contemplating it all. There were no huge epiphanies, but I did get some insights into myself that I had not realized before. (I think that happens whether we like it or not.)
The main thing that kept coming to me over and over is how much I love the women we share this time with and how much I love what we are doing. It never ceases to amaze me how we come together as strangers many times, and leave with a connection that we hadn’t anticipated.
We were lucky enough to have two sisters (besides the two of us) with us on this retreat. It was fun to be a part of their interaction and witness their love for each other. Another woman shared a very private moment with us when she found the perfect spot to spread her brother’s ashes while on a hike up in the red rocks. What an honor it was to share that experience with her.
I am so impressed with the women that open themselves up to discuss what’s going on in their lives and in their hearts, and allow other women to encourage them, support them, and nurture them in their walk in life. Women coming from very different places – different marital status, career paths, spiritual beliefs. Yet, they come together as sisters to lift each other up. So, thank you women for your contribution to my life.
It also goes without saying, that my bond with my sisters is also strengthened and solidified over and over. They are truly amazing and an inspiration to me constantly.
In addition to the messages and conversation, we had a blast! We ate (a lot!), hiked, did Yoga, hot tubbed, shopped (a little), soaked up the sun, had massages, listened to a flute player (which really was awesome), shared funny stories, and laughed so hard we had some complaints about sore cheeks in the morning!
So, as this retreat is wrapped up and put away for now, we look forward to the future, and the next group of amazing women that will come together and create a new unique experience. I think I can speak for Sylvia and Katy when I say, WE CAN’T WAIT!
