The first day we met a wonderful couple at a winery who stand out and set the tone for the remainder of our trip. Such incredible people, we found ourselves talking and laughing with them for hours. Turns out they both have been in the travel business and the wife is also in the wellness field. She asked us if we were interested in having energy massages the next day and we were! As we talked about wellness and the importance of the Korper, Geist and Seele (Body, Mind and Soul) she told us a saying:
“Behandle Deinen Korper so –dass Deinen Seele Lust had darin zu wohnen!”
(“Treat your body such, that your soul will have the desire to live there”)
She had many other quotes as well but this was by far my favorite and has been stuck in my head ever since. You see inevitably during every trip to Germany, about the second day in, I start thinking “How can I take this feeling, and attitude and peace with me when I go home”. Every time I come up with a new plan – “maybe it’s the walking we do everyday, I’ll walk more when I get home” – “maybe it’s having cake and coffee at 2:00 everyday, I’ll make cake and coffee every weekend”. It doesn’t always last (ok, to date they haven’t lasted past 3-4 months) but I’ve decided it’s ok if it doesn’t always last when we get home, the important thing is to keep trying to achieve the same sense of well being we feel in Germany when we get home (it’s the journey, right?). So this time, I bring this quote with me and I strive to treat my life, all aspects, in such a way that my soul has a “desire” to live in!
