You know the moment right before the first time you get into a body of water, like an outdoor, non-heated, swimming pool, or lake or ocean once the weather starts to warm up? The sun is shining and your warm and the water looks so refreshingly inviting. Your hands are clenched up against your chest as you walk to the water’s edge trying to decide … with the hint of a little shiver just under the skin … will you walk in slowly letting your body get used to the temperature of the water, upto your calves, dipping your wrist in, splashing water on other parts of your body or will you just cannon ball it or dive in all at once?
I can’t believe it’s already mid-April! Where has the year gone? It feels like I’ve been constantly in motion, running, maybe even aimlessly, since the beginning of the year when our mom was put in the hospital with pneumonia and 2 strains of flu. Debbie, Katy and I kicked it in immediately, a well choreographed dance of “I can stay these days, if you stay these days” and “ok, great, I’ll stay these days then”. The sisters ROCK this type of situation. There aren’t long drawn out discussions or what-ifs, there’s only acting, synchronistically (may not be a word).
Around mid March, after some weeks in a rehab facility and the continued travel dance, she’s home and doing much better. But every since I’ve struggled to get back into my routine. Sure there’s been other things going on as well, some good, some stress. There’s been work travel and fun travel and fun travel with a stuck in airports for 10 hours, not having my luggage for 3 days and having to rent a car to drive from Dallas to Austin – don’t even ask, it’s a story for another blog dedicated only to “unique” travel experiences. Then, OMG, so many home owner issues I won’t even go into. Ok, I will go into a few – pregnant raccoon, another raccoon, ring tailed cat; pantry moths; leaky ceiling (5th time); pantry moths; flashing blew off by wind and just found out about 30 minutes ago … baby mice in the garage!
Somehow through it all (unless I’m in complete denial) I’ve not fallen into a “poor me” world. I’m pretty content, and dare I say, even keeled. Especially with the onset of spring – YES! But what I realized this week following getting over a cold, successfully heading off what I’m sure would have been bronchitis (because I now believe any little cough will turn into bronchitis) is I have been subconsciously putting many many things on the back burner and it is time to move the pans. The thought is overwhelming and as I sat in my home office contemplating it all, I became aware I had the exact pose described above. The exact same as my first dip of the pool this year – hands clenched to my chest willing off an impending shiver. It was the same sensation – do I wade in, pick just one or two things to get started or do a dive in and make a plan to tackle it all? Or … do I let them stay back there and take a nap ;-)
Then the words Debbie told me awhile ago kept repeating over and over in my head: “People who have a lot to do …. Get a lot done!”
And so …. I’m in. I’m making lists which start something like:
1. Make a list of everything I need to do – check
2. Look up how to get rid of pantry moths and follow instructions – check
3. Find someone to take care of mice – check
4. Find out about Blood Moon
5. Write blog – check
6. etc etc etc ….
Amazingly with each “check” I feel less and less overwhelmed and more and more energized!
Of course maybe some of this energy can be attributed to the anticipation of the Blood Moon (lunar eclipse) which is to happen Tuesday morning at 2:00 am EST. According to Melbrake, “a lunar eclipse is a time to work on ones magic and psychic abilities and to remove blocks of any kind (like say those that are keeping me from getting things done, perhaps) because the full moon is a time of letting go and embracing ones power and strength … this could be a time to manifest powerful abundance and self improvement … and are a special occasions used for honoring and celebrating life, or the blood flow of life. This energy of the moon can be used to energize fertility, abundance, or communicate with spirit.”
Something else I found interesting is tonight’s lunar eclipse is the first lunar eclipse of 2014 and the first in a lunar eclipse tetrad, the term for four consecutive lunar eclipses within the next year. While many tetrads are expected in the upcoming century, there is typically only 2 lunar eclipses per year and there was a 300 year period before the 20th century when there were ZERO!
So, you're ritual, if you choose to accept it, to take advantage of this rare lunar occurrence, is as follows:
What you’ll need: small strips of paper, pen, an envelopes, an apple (or orange or other fruit, or vegetable), shower/bath tub,
1. prepare for your ritual with a shower and/or bath imaging washing away any negativity, or thoughts or feelings which block your view of the things in your life which need to be removed or brought into your life to encourage powerful abundance.
2. after you dry off, take the slips of paper and write on each separate one the areas of your life you’d like more abundance ie home, relationship, job, financial, family, etc
3. On the envelope write the date of October 8, 2014 (the next lunar eclipse)
4. Look at each piece of paper individual, take a cleansing breath in deep through your nose and exhale slowly all the while focusing on the word on that slip of paper and say “I allow myself to have more abundance in my “fill in the blank with the area” and commit to recognizing and appreciating it as it comes as well as continuing to cleanse my thoughts and energy of anything which may damper of block such abundance.
5. take a bite of your apple, orange or other fruit and be thankful for the nutrition as it feeds your body and soul
6. after doing this for each piece of paper, place each in the envelope, seal and put it someplace where you’ll see it daily until you can open on October 8.
7. Lastly give thanks in prayer or meditation
Happy Blood Moon everyone!
Sylvia
P.S. The picture attached is of the bluebonnets in Texas this time of year. These particular ones were at the top of the hill I like to hike at each Saturday with my dogs! Damn, I didn't add taking the dogs for a hike to my list. Oh well, I'm adding it now and .... Check!
